Healthy Kids Oregon
EARLY MEASURE 50 MOMENTUM DRAWS BIG TOBACCO OPPONENTS!

As expected, Big Tobacco has snuck into Oregon from out-of-state to begin saying and doing anything to protect their profits at the expense of our kids.

They have even hired a tobacco lobbyist to run their campaign against making Oregon the healthiest state in the nation.

Meanwhile, we’re betting Oregonians will have no trouble deciding for themselves who is telling the truth — cigarette profiteers or Oregon’s leading child and health advocates, doctors, nurses, other health care experts and hospitals, who have united behind Measure 50.

HEALTHY KIDS CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES FIRST “YES ON 50!” TV SPOT!

Yes on 50!
Check out the spot by clicking here

With out-of-state tobacco lobbyists pouring into Oregon to defeat Measure 50, we have launched our first video spot to remind voters about the stakes in this campaign — to provide the more than 100,000 uninsured children with the health care they need, strengthen proven anti-smoking programs, and save taxpayers millions in reduced insurance rates and fewer medical costs for second-hand smoke-related illnesses.

Tobacco has played hard ball in other states, spending millions of dollars to protect their profits at all costs and resorting to unscrupulous tactics and misleading campaign ads. Don’t believe what you hear from the wolves in sheep’s clothing!

After you watch the video, please forward this update to your organization’s email or personal contacts to help spread the word that Oregon can become a place where every child has a chance at health.

REMEMBER WHO WE’RE FIGHTING FOR!

The campaign to protect our children’s health has three clear goals: provide more than 100,000 uninsured children the health care they need, strengthen proven anti-smoking programs, and save taxpayers millions in reduced insurance rates and fewer medical costs for second-hand smoke-related illnesses.

To make sure we keep these goals in mind, our photo blog is posting pictures of the next generation — the children who will have a chance to grow up in a healthy Oregon.

You can show your support for Measure 50 by letting us know exactly who you want to help. Send us photos of your kids, grandkids, cousins, nieces, nephews, and neighbors!

And don’t forget to sign up for regular updates or check out the growing list of respected groups who have joined our Healthy Kids Campaign!
