The campaign to protect the health of our children and the future health of Oregon got off to a great start last week when a diverse coalition of Oregonians in support of Measure 50 on this November’s statewide ballot launched the Healthy Kids Campaign.
The goal of providing more than 100,000 uninsured children the health care they need captured the media’s attention. So did Measure 50’s other goals — strengthening proven anti-smoking programs and saving taxpayers millions in reduced insurance rates and fewer medical costs for second-hand smoke-related illnesses.
Check out the press coverage here. And don’t miss the Oregonian’s editorial from yesterday, which makes the point that the corporate special interests opposing the Healthy Kids Campaign are just “blowing smoke.”
And remember — you can show your support by visiting www.healthykids-oregon.org to sign up for regular email updates or find out how to volunteer.
REMEMBER WHO WE’RE FIGHTING FOR!
Our photo blog is off to a great start. But we need you to submit photos of your kids, too, to remind Oregonians of what this effort is all about.
Send us electronic photographs so we can post them on the site to underscore our message: The wealthiest nation on earth should be the healthiest nation on earth.
Show your support for Measure 50 by submitting your photo and story online.
Don’t forget to check out our website for the ever-growing list of coalition members, news updates, or to volunteer.
And please forward this update to your organization’s email or personal contacts to help spread the word that Oregon can become a place where every child has a chance at health.
